| Xaklogian is a vertically oriented space shooter styled like an MSX game, right down to the choppy 8-pixel character scrolling. It is inspired by games like Star Soldier and especially Caravan shooters in that there are lots of things to shoot on the ground for extra points as well as hidden score items and the occasional extra life. The power-up system is very simple, red P items power up your shot by one level, dying powers you down by one level. Occasionally there is a blue Z item, which destroys small enemies and clears the screen of enemy bullets. There are no other power-ups or bomb items. It offers 2 difficulty modes as well as a special hidden challenge mode. |
